Who are we?
LOVE Car Rental N.V., Kaya Vivaldi 60, Curaçao, is responsible for personal data we use for our rental service and customer support. For questions or privacy requests, email rental@lovecarrentalcuracao.com.
What data do we use?
For an enquiry we ask for your name, email and message. For a reservation we process the contact, address, driver, driving licence, accommodation, flight and rental details needed for your booking and handover. Your rental file may also contain payment records, correspondence and inspection or damage information. Do not send driving licences, identity documents or payment details through the general contact form.
Why do we use this data?
We use data to answer enquiries, prepare and fulfil reservations, arrange handovers, record payments and handle changes or incidents. We also process data to meet applicable legal obligations and for necessary security, fraud prevention and handling legal claims. Each purpose requires a valid legal basis; agreeing to marketing is not a condition of renting a car.
Our service providers
Our website is hosted by GoDaddy. HQ Rental Software provides the reservation administration; Google Workspace and Postmark support business and transactional communications respectively. These services process the data needed for their role. If you use WhatsApp, its own data processing and privacy settings also apply. You can contact us by email instead. For an incident, data may be shared with relevant assistance services, insurers or competent authorities where necessary and permitted.
How long do we keep data?
We keep data no longer than needed for the purpose for which it was collected, taking into account completion of your enquiry or rental, legal record-keeping duties, ongoing disputes and applicable limitation periods. Different information in a rental file may require different retention periods. A deletion request may therefore have different outcomes for different data. Backups and records held by service providers must also be covered by the retention policy.
Your privacy rights
You can ask what data we hold about you and request access, correction or deletion. Depending on applicable law, you may also object, request restriction or request data portability. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. We verify identity proportionately. Do not send a complete identity document without being asked. If we cannot fulfil a request in full, we explain why. You may complain to the competent data protection authority.
Cookies and the booking form
Choose Full, Essential or Off. With Essential or Full, booking pages connect to the reservation service; with Off, that form does not load. The love_cookie_choice cookie stores only your choice and its version, for up to 180 days. It contains no customer or reservation data. You can change your choice through Cookie settings. This does not delete a reservation or cookies already placed by external services. A direct booking or WhatsApp link opens that external service. Our cookie notice explains more.
Security and changes
We restrict access to data according to work needs and use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the processing. No website can guarantee absolute security. Report a possible security issue to rental@lovecarrentalcuracao.com without including customer records or sensitive documents. This notice is updated when our services or data processing change.
Legal bases and retention
Where the GDPR applies, necessary booking and rental processing relies on preparation or performance of the contract. Legally required business records rely on the relevant legal obligation. Necessary security and handling claims require a balanced legitimate interest. Any marketing consent is separate and is not currently activated.
The Curaçao Tax Administration specifies ten years for business records. The accompanying LOVE retention schedule distinguishes fiscal records from other information. Proposed shorter periods for general enquiries, abandoned applications and driving licence uploads become final only after feasibility and any insurance or legal exceptions have been checked.
Technical data and international processing
When you visit, hosting and security services receive technical data such as your IP address and browser information. The contact form uses a temporary protected abuse counter; submissions are not stored as a separate customer database in WordPress. LOVE operates from Curaçao and uses international service providers, so information may be processed outside your home country. Transfers subject to the GDPR require appropriate legal safeguards. You can ask us for information about the applicable locations, recipients and safeguards.
Your choices and questions
Contact and reservation details are needed to handle your enquiry or rental; missing necessary information may prevent us from doing so. Marketing choices are separate. LOVE does not make solely automated decisions about damage liability or a disputed claim: a staff member reviews these. Send privacy requests to rental@lovecarrentalcuracao.com. Where the GDPR applies, we normally respond within one month and explain any lawful extension in time.
You can also complain directly to the competent supervisory authority. For Curaçao this is the College bescherming persoonsgegevens. Where the GDPR applies, this includes the competent authority for your habitual residence, workplace or place of the alleged infringement.
